TABLYR Privacy Policy

Plain-language policy from FrameMaker Digital, LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of TABLYR.

The short version

TABLYR is a desktop application. Your courses, media and project folders stay on your computer. The app sends no usage analytics and no course content to us. It connects to the internet only to activate and check your licence, check for updates, run the AI, voice and speech features you set up, load Google's icon and font catalogues when you use those pickers, and send the problem reports you choose to send. Each is described below.

1. What we collect and why

Account and payment. Subscriptions are sold through Polar (Polar Software Inc.), our merchant of record. When you buy, Polar collects your name, email address, billing details and payment method, and issues your licence key. We see your name, email, the plan you bought and the state of your subscription; we never see your card number. Polar's privacy policy governs the payment itself.

Licence activation. When you enter your licence key, TABLYR sends the key, a short label ("TABLYR on Mac" or "TABLYR on Windows") and, on later checks, the activation identifier to Polar so the key can be validated. No hardware serial numbers, user names or file names are sent. The app checks the key roughly once a day and keeps working for 14 days without a connection.

Updates. The installed app asks our update server (tablyr.com) whether a newer version exists and downloads it from there. The request carries the app version and operating system, like any download. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as the IP address, time and file requested) for security and troubleshooting; we do not use them to identify you or for marketing.

Problem reports. When something goes wrong, TABLYR prepares a report on your computer: the app version, your operating system, the slide number you were on, which controls you used last (for example "click showPane('triggers')") and the error message with its technical details. It never includes the project title, slide titles, object names, course content, media or API keys. The report is sent only if you choose "Email report" or paste it into a message to support@tablyr.com; you can read it before sending. The desktop app also keeps a log of errors in its data folder on your computer, which stays there unless you send it.

Support email. If you write to support@tablyr.com we keep the correspondence so we can help you and improve the product.

2. What we do not collect

3. Third-party services you choose to use

AI, voice and speech. TABLYR's AI assistant, text-to-speech and speech-to-text features are off until you set them up with your own account and key. When you use them, the text or audio you ask to be processed is sent directly from your computer to the provider you chose: Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Google (Gemini) or Microsoft Azure. We are not a party to that transfer and do not receive the data. Each provider's terms and privacy policy apply, including what they retain and whether they train on it. Do not send content you are not permitted to share with that provider.

AI apps connected to TABLYR. If you turn on "Let AI apps use TABLYR", AI apps you connect on your computer (for example Claude Desktop or Gemini CLI) can read and change the course that is open in TABLYR. The connection stays on your computer and we do not receive it; what those apps send to their own providers is governed by their terms.

Icons and Google Fonts. When you open the Icons dialog or add a Google Font, TABLYR loads the catalogue and the files you pick from Google (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), and Google receives your IP address as with any web request. The icons and fonts you choose are saved into your course, so published courses do not load them from Google.

4. Courses you publish

Published packages are self-contained: the player, fonts and media are inside the package, and a published course does not contact us. When learners take a course in your learning management system (LMS) or learning record store (LRS), their progress, answers and scores go to that system, which you or your client control; we do not receive learner data. Web pages, videos or other content you embed from other sites load from those sites under their terms.

5. Cookies and the website

tablyr.com uses only the cookies needed to run the site and the Polar checkout. We do not run advertising trackers. If we add analytics later, this policy will say so and, where required, ask for consent.

6. How long we keep information

Subscription and billing records are kept for as long as you have an account and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires. Support correspondence is kept for up to three years. Licence-check logs at Polar are retained under Polar's policy.

7. Sharing

We share information only with Polar (payments, licences and the customer portal), with our email provider for support mail, with our web host for the website and update server, and when the law requires. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for advertising.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Write to support@tablyr.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can cancel a subscription, update billing details or delete your account in the Polar customer portal. Deleting your account ends licence checks, and the installed app stops working after the grace period.

9. Children

TABLYR is a professional authoring tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. International transfers

We are based in the United States. Polar and the third-party providers you choose may process data in the United States or other countries. Where transfer rules apply (for example from the EU or UK), Polar and those providers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards described in their policies.

11. Security

Licence and update traffic uses HTTPS. API keys are stored encrypted by your operating system. No system is perfectly secure; keep your project folders backed up and your computer's account protected.

12. Changes

We will post changes here with a new date. If a change materially reduces your rights we will email subscribers before it takes effect.
