ANIMATION & TIMING

A whole new timeline,
new advanced tools.

Every object gets a bar. Drag it to set when it appears, give it an entrance and an exit, and press Space to watch the slide play right on the stage.

  • Drag, trim and snap. Highlight a stretch of time and fit any object to it, or line bars up with the playhead.
  • Entrance and exit effects. Fade, fly, grow, zoom, bounce, flip, wipe or blur, with duration and easing.
  • Keyframes. Animate position, rotation, scale and opacity, and see the motion path on the stage.
  • Timed to narration. Split a paragraph into sentences, each on its own bar, and drag them against the voice.
  • States. Hover, down, visited, selected, disabled or your own, with transitions between them.
  • State animation. Give each state its own effect — bounce, pulse, pop, shake, wobble, glow, flash, press or lift — with a duration, so a button bounces on hover or presses in when clicked.
  • Edit many at once. Select several rows and move, copy or delete them together.

AI THAT BUILDS

Describe it.
It’s built.

Type one sentence and the assistant builds the slide in your course — layout, text, colors and buttons. It sees your slide, objects, rules and variables, so it works with what is already there.

  • Slides and interactions from a description, applied with one click and undoable.
  • Animation on request: “fade the title in, then fly the button in at 2 s.”
  • Rules and JavaScript written for you, and explained when one isn’t doing what you expect.
  • AI narration from your script with ElevenLabs, Google Gemini or Azure voices, placed on the timeline.
  • Speech to captions: transcribe any audio or video into a transcript and timed captions.
  • Your own key. Claude or OpenAI, billed by the provider — and new models appear on their own.

BUILT FOR SPEED

Fewer clicks.
Every day.

The things you do a hundred times a day are one click away. Right-click anything — an object, the stage, a timeline row, a slide — for exactly the actions that fit it.

  • Quick menus everywhere. Duplicate, change a shape, add a button where you clicked, line up with the playhead.
  • Templates. Ready-made quizzes, interactions and layouts, all editable — and save any slide as your own.
  • Paste from anywhere. Screenshots, images and text from any app land on the stage as objects.
  • Simulations in one take. Record your clicks in any program and get a slide per step, narration included.
  • Keyboard for everything. ⌘D duplicate, arrows nudge, ⌘G group, Space plays, ⌘/ lists them all.
  • Never lose work. Autosave, backups on every save, and undo across everything.

TEMPLATES

Ready-made templates.
All editable.

Quizzes, interactions, navigation and layouts land on the slide in one click. Then you change them like a list: add, remove, reorder and retype items in Properties, and TABLYR rebuilds the layout, layers and rules for you.

  • Edit the list, not the wiring. Add a flip card, an accordion heading, a timeline point or a matching pair — there are no layers or rules to fix by hand.
  • Quizzes that report. Multiple choice, true/false, multiple response, hotspot, fill in the blank, sequencing, matching, matching by connecting and a results slide. Every answer goes to your LMS.
  • Interactions learners remember. Flip cards, accordions, timelines, branching scenarios, click-to-reveal graphics, tabs, drag and drop and a quiz show board.
  • Make your own. Save any slide or selection as a template, and export the gallery for your team.

Quiz: multiple choice · true / false · multiple response · hotspot · fill in the blank · sequencing · matching · matching by connecting · quiz results
Interactions: tabs · carousel · drag and drop · click-to-reveal · flip cards · scenario · process / steps · accordion · timeline · quiz show board
Navigation: Next button · Back and Next · Exit course · topic menu with check marks
Layout: title · section divider · learning objectives · image and text · summary / key takeaways · certificate of completion · web page

SHARED LAYERS

No more slide masters.
Build it once, in place.

A slide master makes you design headers, footers and menus on an empty canvas, then guess how they sit on real slides. In TABLYR you build them as a shared layer right on top of a real slide, and they appear on every slide you choose.

  • Built on real content. The slide dims underneath while you edit, so you line the footer up against what learners will actually see.
  • You choose where it shows. Every slide, chosen scenes or chosen slides, in front of or behind the slide’s content — and any slide can opt out.
  • Rules work everywhere. A Contents button, a score that updates, or a “next” arrow runs on every slide the layer is on.
  • It stays put. Background music keeps playing and objects keep their states as the learner moves between slides.
  • One change, every slide. Edit the layer once and every slide it covers updates — no master to re-apply.

COURSE MAP

See the whole course.
Wire it by dragging.

Every TABLYR course starts on the course map: every scene, slide and branch on one canvas. Plan the course here, add slides and branching choices with +, and double-click any slide to build it. Press ~ to come back any time.

  • Plan here first. New projects open on the map with one slide. The + between slides adds a slide, a template or a branching choice.
  • Branching in one form. A question and up to four answers become the slides, buttons and connections. Send each answer back to the course, back to the question, to any slide or out of the course, and edit the choice later.
  • Drag to rearrange and connect. Move slides within or between scenes. Drag a slide’s dot onto another slide or scene to branch, and disconnect a scene link with one click.
  • Check flow and Trace a path. Find slides learners can’t reach, dead ends and broken jumps, then walk the course as a learner would.
  • Every path, labelled. Arrows say what sends learners each way. Click one to change it or pick a slide transition.
  • Built for big courses. Fold scenes, find slides by title or slide ID, and leave sticky notes for reviewers that are never published.

SOFTWARE SIMULATIONS

Show the software.
Skip the video.

Press Record, use the program, press Stop. TABLYR captures the screen just before each click and builds a slide per step: the screenshot, a cursor that glides to the spot, a highlight, a caption and what you said while that screen was showing.

  • Full screen, an application window or a region you drag into shape
  • Screenshots, not video: small files, editable slides, accessible text
  • Narration recorded as you click, split onto the right slides
  • Review, retake or delete steps before they become slides
  • Also: record the screen as a video, with narration, into the Media library

PUBLISH WITH CONFIDENCE

One course.
Every destination.

Choose the format, tracking rules and metadata your LMS expects. The player works on phones and tablets, speaks twelve languages, and carries captions, transcripts and keyboard navigation for Section 508 and WCAG. Developer mode lets reviewers jump to any slide and watch variables live.

CLIENT REVIEW

Feedback right on the slide.
No accounts, no server.

Publish a review copy and send it to your client. They click a spot on any slide and type what should change, then send all their notes back to you in one file.

  • Pinned to the moment: every comment knows its slide, the spot, the object and the second on the timeline it was made at.
  • One click to the fix: import the file and Go opens that slide with the object selected and the timeline at that moment.
  • Track every round: mark comments Fixed or Won't fix, see several reviewers in their own colours, and export a spreadsheet for sign-off.
  • Private by design: nothing is uploaded; the review copy runs in any browser and comments never ship with the published course.

AI VOICES

Narration in minutes.
No microphone needed.

Paste your script, pick a voice and press Generate & play. Happy with it? Save it and it lands on the slide as an audio object, with its transcript and captions ready.

  • Studio-quality voices from ElevenLabs, Google Gemini or Azure Speech — including your own cloned ElevenLabs voices.
  • Shape the delivery with speed and stability, and hear each take before you keep it.
  • Captions for free. Every generated voice remembers its script, so its captions and transcript are made for you.
  • Change a word, regenerate. Edit the script later and regenerate the line right from its audio object.
  • Edit in place. Trim, cut, fade and normalise in the built-in audio editor, or record your own with a live level meter.
  • Your key, your account. Connect a provider once; the key stays in your computer’s keychain and usage is billed by the provider.

PROJECT FOLDERS

Every file in its place.
Organized from day one.

Start a new project and TABLYR builds the project folders for you: one course file and a folder for every kind of media. Everything the course uses lives inside it, so a project is easy to find, back up, zip up and hand to a teammate.

Sorted as you work. Add an image, a sound or a video and it’s saved into the right folder under its own file name.

Edit in your favorite tools. Change a picture in Photoshop or a recording in Audacity and every slide that uses it updates in about half a second.

Backups built in. The course autosaves as you work, and the last ten saves are kept in the backups folder.

Packages in one place. Every SCORM, xAPI, cmi5, AICC or Web package you publish lands in the publish folder.

Clean up in one click. Remove media files the course no longer uses, or package the whole course as a single .tablyr file to share.

DEVELOPER MODE

Built for reviewers.
Find any slide in seconds.

Switch on developer mode and every slide shows its ID. Type a slide number, an ID or part of a title and jump straight there, even deep into a long course. Open the variables console to watch every value change, and see exactly which rule changed it.

  • Slide IDs on every slide. Number slides automatically (0010, 0020, 0030…), so reviewers can say “fix 0140” instead of “the slide after the quiz intro”.
  • Go to slide #. Jump by number, ID or title. Next and Previous always work and locked navigation is bypassed, so nobody has to play through to check a slide.
  • Your own secret shortcut. Record a key combination only you know. Press it in any published course, even the learner copy in your LMS, and developer mode switches on, so you can jump to any slide to check a problem a learner reports.
  • A live variables console. Every variable with its current value, plus a log of each change: when it happened, old → new, and which rule, input or script caused it.
  • Test a branch in one step. Type a new value into the console to try the path the learner would take, without clicking through.
  • Review copies for SMEs. Publish with developer mode on for reviewers; learner copies leave it out, and TABLYR warns you if it is still on.

TABLYR CREATE · ENGAGE · TRAIN

Course authoring built
by course developers,
for course developers.

A desktop authoring tool for Mac and Windows. Build slide-based training with interactions, quizzes, narration and captions, then publish to any LMS in the format it expects.

Build slides fast

Everything you’d expect on the stage, and a few things you wouldn’t.

  • Do it once, apply it everywhere: repeat a change on other slides, or save it as an action to run on any course. Edit several slides’ settings at once.
  • Mixed formatting in one text box: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, highlight, color, size and font per word, plus bullets and numbered lists.
  • Every kind of object: shapes, buttons, images, Material Symbols icons, scrolling panels, hotspots, embedded web pages or PDFs, and links on any words.
  • Shared layers built on top of a real slide, in place of a slide master: every slide, chosen scenes or chosen slides, in front of or behind the content.
  • Precise layout: rulers, grid, guides and snapping; align, distribute, group; paste an image from any app, even into a shape.
  • On brand by default: course defaults and a palette so new objects match your brand; Google Fonts saved into the course for offline use.
  • Quick menus: right-click menus everywhere, and side-panel tabs you can hide until you need them.

Map and branch the course

The whole course on one canvas, and new projects start there.

  • Drag to rearrange and connect: move slides between scenes, drag a slide onto another to branch, disconnect a scene with one click.
  • Branching in one form: a question and up to four answers become a question slide, a slide per answer and the buttons between them. Send each answer back to the course, back to the question, to any slide or out of the course, and edit the choice later.
  • Check flow finds slides no learner can reach, dead ends and broken jumps; Trace a path walks the course as a learner would.
  • Tidy maps: labels on every branch, slide transitions, folding scenes, Find slide, preview from any slide, and sticky notes for reviewers that are never published.
  • Slide IDs that number themselves: 0010, 0020… and a slide added between them gets 0015.

Animate and time everything

A real timeline, not a list of effects.

  • Direct timing: drag, trim and snap bars to the playhead; highlight a range and fit an object to it.
  • Select several rows and move, copy, duplicate or delete them together.
  • Entrances and exits with duration and easing: fade, fly, grow, zoom, bounce, flip, wipe, blur.
  • Keyframes on position, rotation, scale and opacity, with easing and live preview.
  • Split a text box into sentences or paragraphs so each line gets its own bar to time against narration.
  • Object states with transitions and effects: hover, down, visited, selected, disabled, or your own.

Make it interactive, without code

And with code when you want it.

  • Rules: when something happens, do something, only if a variable or state matches. The selected object’s rules come first.
  • Variables of every type, form inputs bound to them, and a live variables console while you preview.
  • Interactions: drag and drop with correct and incorrect targets, hotspots, tab interactions, carousels, scrolling panels.
  • Quiz templates: multiple choice, true/false, multiple response, hotspot, fill in the blank, sequencing, matching and matching by connecting, and a results slide — with answer keys, points, attempts and feedback, and every answer reported to the LMS. See all the templates.
  • Software simulations: record clicks in any program as screenshot slides with cursor, highlight, caption and narration; screen recording as video with narration.
  • More rule actions: glide or jump an object to a position, or complete the course and close it with a Finish button. Crop any image or video without changing the file.
  • Your own templates: save any slide as a template; import and export template galleries.
  • JavaScript as a rule action, with a documented SDK for anything rules can’t express.

AI built in

Your own keys, your own models, no middleman.

  • AI slide generation: describe a slide or an interaction and the assistant builds it: objects, layers, rules and variables, ready to edit and undo.
  • Rules, animation and JavaScript on request: ask for a rule, a timeline change or a script and apply it with one click.
  • Ask anything: the assistant sees your slide and answers questions about your course and TABLYR.
  • Use your Claude or Gemini subscription: turn on the TABLYR connector and Claude Desktop or Gemini CLI builds in the course you have open, with no API key.
  • Or use your own API key: Claude or OpenAI for the assistant, and your voice and speech keys. Usage is billed by the provider directly, and keys stay in your computer’s keychain.
  • Pick your model: choose from the latest Claude and GPT models; new ones appear in the list on their own.

Sound like a studio

Narration, voices and captions without leaving the app.

  • Record with a live level meter, then trim, cut, fade and normalize in the built-in audio editor.
  • AI voices from ElevenLabs, Google Gemini or Azure Speech, including your own cloned voices, saved with their script so a line can be regenerated later. Paste a script, press Generate & play, and save it onto the slide.
  • Narrated captions: narrate captions automatically, one utterance per cue, timed to the cues.
  • Speech to text: transcribe any audio or video into a transcript and timed closed captions with ElevenLabs Scribe, OpenAI Whisper, Azure or Gemini.
  • Media library with one-click playback, reveal, edit-in-place and relink, plus a running total of what the course weighs.

A player every learner can use

Clean, familiar, accessible and in their language.

  • A built-in accessibility checker for Section 508 and WCAG: alt text, contrast, focus order, captions and more.
  • Accessible by design: closed captions, transcripts, keyboard navigation and screen-reader names for every object.
  • Slide menu your way: always shown, tucked behind a ☰ button, or hidden.
  • Restricted navigation: slides unlock in order, and Next waits until a slide is finished. Or leave it open.
  • Glossary and Resources: searchable terms, plus links and files learners open from the player bar.
  • Player buttons: show or hide each one, with keyboard shortcuts for slides, play, replay, transcript, captions and glossary.
  • 12 player languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic and Hindi, including every screen-reader announcement.
  • Any device: works on computers, tablets and phones in any current browser, with a slide-menu drawer and touch-sized controls.

Preview and publish anywhere

The formats your LMS expects, with the settings it asks for.

  • Preview any part: the whole course, this slide, from here, one scene or a chosen set, in phone and tablet frames.
  • Developer mode for reviewers: free navigation, slide IDs and the console, included or left out at publish time.
  • LMS settings: package metadata, lesson settings, status rules and tracking by last slide, slides viewed, quiz score or rules.
  • Tracking that works: resume where the learner left off; scores, pass or fail, time and mastery reported to the LMS. Every format is tested end to end in SCORM Cloud.

Work the way you want

Files you can read, an assistant you can question.

  • Projects are folders: a readable course file with a folder for each kind of media. Autosave, the last ten saves kept as backups, and one-file .tablyr packages for sharing. Edit a file in another app and the course updates.
  • Spread out across your monitors: float any panel (Properties, Rules, Layers, the timeline, the slide list, the course map) in a window of its own, put it on a second screen, and dock it back with one click. TABLYR remembers where each one goes.
  • Find any slide fast: ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) jumps to a slide by title, number or ID, Page Up and Page Down step through the course, and the slide list shows thumbnails, titles only, or folds away.
  • Undo everything: undo and redo across everything, including text formatting and timeline edits.
  • Bring existing courses with you: import a published HTML5 course or a PowerPoint and keep working on it in TABLYR (switching to TABLYR).
  • Help built in: searchable in-app help with a topic for every feature, keyboard shortcuts, and light, dark or system themes.
  • Mac and Windows: macOS 11 or later on Apple silicon, and Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit); .tablyr files open with a double-click; Check for Updates… built in.

SWITCHING TO TABLYR

Your work comes
with you.

Switching authoring tools shouldn’t mean starting over. Bring what you have already built into TABLYR and keep building.

1

Import a published course

Point TABLYR at a course you published as HTML5 from another authoring tool. Slides and scenes, text, pictures, video and narration, buttons and their states, layers, timing, variables and triggers are rebuilt as a project you can edit.

Use the published .zip or its folder.
2

Import a PowerPoint

Turn a .pptx into editable slides: text with its styles and spacing, shapes, pictures, tables and charts, with transitions, animations and narration playing on cue, and speaker notes ready to become narration.

Sections become scenes. Save an older .ppt as .pptx first.

Import is in beta, and not everything comes across. Quiz questions and the other tool’s own player menu, for example, are left out. A report at the end of every import lists exactly what was, and your original files are never changed.

QUESTIONS

Before you
install.

Anything else: support@tablyr.com.

I use another authoring tool. Can I bring my courses?

Yes. Import a course you published as HTML5, or a PowerPoint, and keep working on it in TABLYR. See Switching to TABLYR for what comes across, what doesn’t yet and a first-week plan.

Which LMSs does it work with?

Any LMS that accepts SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, xAPI or cmi5 — which is nearly all of them. You choose the format and tracking settings your LMS asks for. Before you upload to your own LMS, you can test a package free on SCORM Cloud (cloud.scorm.com). Or publish as a plain website.

Do I need to be online?

No. You build, preview and publish offline. TABLYR confirms your licence about once a day and keeps working for 14 days without a connection. AI features need a connection to your provider.

What do the AI features cost?

Nothing extra from us. You connect your own Claude or OpenAI key for the assistant, and ElevenLabs, Google or Azure for voices and transcription; the provider bills you directly for what you use. Keys are stored in your computer’s keychain, and everything else in TABLYR works without any key.

Where are my courses stored?

On your computer. A project is a folder with a readable course file and your media beside it, with autosave and backups. Nothing is uploaded to us, and published courses run without TABLYR.

What happens if I cancel?

Your subscription runs to the end of the period you paid for. After that TABLYR asks for a valid key before you can edit, but your project folders and published packages are untouched, and they open again as soon as you renew.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes, two at a time — say, a work desktop and a laptop, even one Mac and one Windows PC. To move to a new computer, deactivate the old one in File ▾ → Licence….

Which computers does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 11 or later, and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Intel Macs are not supported.

How do updates work?

TABLYR checks for updates on start and from Check for Updates…, downloads them in the background and offers to restart. After a new version installs it opens on a blank slide; your keys and licence stay, and your projects are one File ▾ → Open… away.
